LEVEL 4 / POST 10 (WEEK 13): ENGLISH LANGUAGE CHALLENGES

Imagen
I think that for me the experience of learning English at the university was not the best. It was difficult for me to organize my time to be able to do my blogs and to be able to participate in the activities throughout the semester. Even so, having a space where I can practice my writing and reading in English is always necessary, also, the activities where I had to speak allow me to erase the shame it gives me. I feel that I must find spaces where I can speak English, to be able to practice my conversations and how to respond without fear in situations where I must speak in English. Even so, the English space at the university always helps, and motivates me to continue studying my English in other spaces. I think that writing the blog helped me to learn to put topics of my interest in English, to learn to explain ideas that I have and that I can easily explain in Spanish, but that when I want to talk about them with other people I cannot do it because I do not handle the English.  I

LEVEL 4 / POST 9 (WEEK 12): CHANGES TO MY STUDY PROGRAMME

Imagen
When i entered college i never questioned the study programme of my career. But now, with only a few years to go, I have realized many things are missing. There are not many situations of interaction with the world (more now in a pandemic) and in the last year, the thesis must be done together with the practice, something that is impossible for the student. Another thing that I think needs to change is the number of introductory subjects, where, although they are very interesting subjects to study, they eventually extend the degree unnecessarily. In this way, the degree could last fewer years, avoiding spending so much money in college. I would like the degree to last fewer years and that it was designed to be able to finish it at the correct time, not having to extend the years of study, since, finally, only in the workplace can you learn what it is to be a psychologist With the experience in the online academy, I think it has been very demotivating to live these years at the universit

LEVEL 4 / POST 8 (WEEK 11): SUMMER HOLIDAYS

Imagen
For these next holidays, with some friends we would like to visit many countries in Europe. The trip will last approximately 51 days, to be able to know all the countries on our list: England, Italy, Spain, Germany, France and Belgium. We would like to visit relatives that we have on the continent, and be able to enjoy the beauty that all those countries have, their typical foods and their nightlife. Also, we are interested in being able to learn more about the history of the countries and visit the different museums. We see the trip as a very great opportunity to learn about topics that we are interested in analyzing and learning, such as fashion or alternative therapies. Also, it will be a space to reconnect with family that decided to leave Chile, being something very significant for us.  We will be three women traveling alone, but we are not afraid of the dangers that may arise. It is very important to find out beforehand about what uncomfortable situations can happen in different

LEVEL 4 / POST 7 (WEEK 9): THEMED / FREE POST

The ATS dance was born in the San Francisco of the 60s. At that time, the shows of oriental dancers were very common, in cabarets and nightclubs in many of the cities of the country. Jamila Salimpour arrives in San Francisco and with her, the foundations of what we currently call Tribal Dance are sown. Jamila was born in New York in 1926 and since she was a child, oriental culture had been very present in her life.  In 1968, Jamila formed her own dance company, the Bal Anat group, breaking the old way of understanding dance. Now the dance would happen to be danced in groups, the connection between dancers being fundamental. Also, there would be an own code and instruments such as the rattles would be used. The ATS dance is relevant as it is a dance that was born in response to the sexism and preparity that the dancers lived at that time. In Chile there are many groups throughout the country, which take different elements and which function as a great family for the dancers. I have pa

LEVEL 4 / POST 6 (WEEK 8): POST GRADUATE STUDIES.

Imagen
When I was a teenager, I really wanted to become a specialist in human sexuality, and to be able to support sex education, which I consider is very bad in Chile. I continue to maintain the same interest in this topic, but currently a path has been opened that I am very interested in knowing and learning about it. I would be interested in learning about community therapies, where elements such as art and dance are used. I believe that through art, dance and other artistic expressions, people can say and work on their experiences, which is fundamental when experiencing situations of violence. But, although I think I know what I want to do, I don't know of any postgraduate study that presents this topic. I would like to travel the world knowing different understandings about mental health and different approaches that are maintained with the body, through art, music and dance.

LEVEL 4 / POST 5 (WEEK 7): MY FUTURE JOB

Imagen
For me, psychology is the career in which I see myself in the future. I am very grateful to be able to study something that I am passionate about and that makes a lot of sense to me. In the future, I see myself working with people in community spaces, where health is understood as something that affects all areas of a person's life. I would like to be able to work in open spaces, where people can develop physical activities that allow them to improve their well-being. For example, I would love to create workshops where people can talk and get to know each other, working on their emotional problems together with others. For this, dance, sport and art can be spaces of relaxation and connection, with psychology and its knowledge being a contribution to make sense of these moments, and in turn, being a therapeutic space. I would like to create these spaces in Valparaíso, my city, to later be able to promote them in Chile. For example, the ATS dance is an example of space and connection

LEVEL 4 / POST 4 (WEEK 6): CAREER RELATED TOPIC

Imagen
For me, choosing my career and the university to study in was one of the most important decisions I made at the time. When I chose the University of Chile, it meant moving to Santiago from Valparaíso and starting a much more adult life. For me, psychology was always my first choice. Psychology presents an extremely interesting and necessary way of understanding the human being, trying to understand and study subjectivity from different approaches and points of view.  From my experience searching for an explanation about the world, psychology has allowed me to understand many situations that most of the time are invisible, especially in a country like Chile. I believe that it can be a tool to generate social changes and contribute to people's lives in the search for their individual and collective well-being. Also, I consider that as it is a social science, it is essential that it always stays connected and communicated with other careers, in order to give a more complete perspectiv
